Support Us

Thank you for visiting the Foundation's Support Us page. Here you will find various ways to support the Foundation's work. We are a registered charity in England (charity number 287817).

To make a donation online, please use the Orient Foundation for Arts and Culture's Just Giving page. Donations can be made from anywhere in the world using a credit or debit card or Paypal. Gift Aid is applicable to donors in the UK (see below).

If you would like to make a donation by bank transfer, please contact us.

Gift Aid

If you are a UK taxpayer, when you give to the Foundation, please consider giving under Gift Aid. Gift Aid allows the Foundation to reclaim the basic rate of tax on the gross gift. This means that a gift of £100, for example, is worth an extra 25% to the Foundation, i.e. £125. The Gift Aid option is integrated into the Just Giving platform and this is ideal for smaller donations - Just Giving administers the Gift Aid claim for a small percentage fee. For larger donations, please request a Gift Aid declaration form from us and we will administer the claim.

Your support is invaluable in maintaining the development of the Foundation’s work, including the Foundation’s two main projects:

Gompa – Tibetan Monastery Services. In a ground-breaking initiative, supported by H.H. the Dalai Lama and senior lamas of all traditions, Gompa – Tibetan Monastery Services (www.gompaservices.com) is providing state-of-the-art online services in partnership with over fifty of the major monasteries and nunneries in India and Nepal. The online services include webcasts of teachings by eminent lamas, arrangement of prayers and pujas, and the sending of offerings and donations with no transfer fees. Concurrently, the Gompa partnership is also increasing the educational and scholastic research resources available in the monasteries and nunneries and helping to fund a range of environmental and social welfare projects both within each partner monastery and nunnery and within the local communities which they serve. It is the aim of the Gompa partnership to provide online services, and the related educational and social welfare benefits, to as many as possible of the monasteries and nunneries throughout India and Nepal.

The Classical Tibetan Knowledge Archive and Multimedia Study Resource. Since the early 1990s, the Orient Foundation for Arts and Culture has assisted in creating multimedia documentation centres and digital libraries in the monasteries and nunneries of India and Nepal and has worked in cooperation with the senior lamas of all traditions and the partner monasteries to build the Classical Tibetan Knowledge Archive and Multimedia Study Resource, which is now one of the largest multimedia archives of Tibetan cultural resources in the world. Currently, the archive includes more than 22,100 hours of recordings of oral commentaries to the key classical texts of Indo-Tibetan culture by many of the greatest masters, scholars, doctors, and artists of the 20th century, most of whom completed their studies in Tibet before 1959. The archive is available online (see www.tibetan-knowledge.org) serving over 30,000 monks, nuns and artists and academia worldwide; and new documentation of lineage teachings, monastic special events and classical arts traditions are being recorded and continuously integrated into the archival collections.
